A Whole New Home!

New Year’s resolutions seem like such a good idea. Until it comes time to stick to them. Then giving up chocolate, taking up running or losing two stone becomes…well, a little less important. So this year, we’re settling on a new solution – we’ve decided to get our homes in order instead.

Here are a few steps you can take towards a whole new home, this new year:

Take A Look

Decide what you really need by taking some time to sort through all the things in your home. That includes the shed, and the drawers full of batteries! Where ever you’ve got stuff, you’ve got a space to clear out. Cut your belongings right down to the bare minimum, ready to welcome in a fresh new year.

Clear It Out

Now that you’ve figured out what you actually want to store in your home, it’s time to get rid of the rest. Donate or sell what you can and be sure to recycle the rest. It’s oddly satisfying to chuck stuff out, but if there’s a better way it’s usually just as simple.

Find A Place

For everything else, you’ll need to find it a home. Organising each room so you know exactly where everything is, and exactly where anything out of place should go is a great way to take back control of your belongings. You can even go the whole hog with customisable draw inserts and organisational aids.

Clean The House

Now that your home is perfectly organised, it’s time to give it a new years clean. With all of the decluttering already done, it should be a it’ll be a breeze. You might even get round to those spots that usually fall off the end of the to-do list.

Put Your Feet Up

Now it’s time to sit back, relax and admire your handy work. With only the things you need left in your home, all organised well, you’ll have more time to think of the future…and maybe even start planning a few home improvement touches here and there.
